Tilda Swinton Has A Perfume

The perfume is called Etat Libre D'Orange - which is The Free State of Orange. At first I thought gross, this orange thing points to citrus, which I HATE in a perfume. When Swinton explained the orange, it is much more along the lines of harvest smells, pumpkins and carrots and things like that - earthy orange colors. I don't think anyone could have made their opinion of Etat Libre D'Orange more convoluted than New York Times' critic Chandler Burr by saying "It's a below-the-surface gourmand," and continues with: "It is a contemporary, abstract expressionist perfume, late twentieth century. It does not contain any shock values that some of the super-neons — like those made for Britney Spears, or Gucci Rush kind of pioneered that, that overtly artificial scent — it doesn't have any of that. But it is not representational art at all, it's conceptual, that's why it's abstract expressionist. And it doesn't give you any landmarks." For comparison: "Pamela Anderson's was the worst celebrity scent," he said. "It was something you wouldn't even have in a CVS, literally. Beyoncé's is good: It was a well-made, commercial, feminine scent. I was very disappointed in Queen Latifah — it just doesn't have any character at all."

Chew on that.

10 Days Later

I'm back, I was busy, then sick and now, well....like I said, back.

Now This is Resort

Here are some highlights of the Naeem Khan Resort 2011 collection. I had never heard of Naeem Khan until today, I guess he is best known for his red carpet dresses. So far this is the resort collection that I have been looking to drool over. The above dress references Norman Norell's mermaid dress but has a modern bohemian fit, which is tough for sequence to pull off!

A Must For Summer

This witch hazel with lilac fragrance is not only a great toner but also a great way to refresh on a hot summer day. The packaging is also something nice to look at while you're in the bathroom. I'm thinking about traveling with this instead of facial wipes. Also it is very cheap and comes in other fragrances!

Balenciaga Resort 2010

Here are some highlights of the Balenciaga Resort 2010 collection. I really feel like most of it doesn't feel resorty at all, but I still like it. At least there are some interesting ideas about resort wear in here.

The above two ensembles are the most resorty as this collection gets. It is all about the texture of the dresses (linen I'm guessing), the color (beige), the contrasting belt, and the striped woven bag with leather accents. The shoes are awesome although they look a lot like Marni shoes.

I just really like this one for the texture and contrasting orange belt. I'm sorry, clogs (even open toe clogs) are not coming back.

No complaints, this is good. I will call this a successful resort ensemble!

What?! Personally I don't feel that these are resort, but I LOVE them. This is how I want to dress this fall the cut, fit and lines are perfection.

Pleated shorts, successfully reference 1940s short style, but remain modern. Like.
Hello Courreges.
OK, so in this collection there are a series of these micro puffy dresses in different sleeve lengths, colors, and patterns. I like them because they are sort of little girlish, but sufficiently womanly and modern. These are right up my alley (as they say). However, I really hate how small the model's legs look! I know that is cliche, disliking too skinny of models, but still. I guess that I should just look at the model as a hanger with legs.
