Style Inspiration: Edith Head

I have this really amazing picture of famous costume designer Edith Head somewhere wearing a Mexican inspired outfit, and I can't find it anywhere! I've been wanting to refer to it for my own fashion inspiration for Spring. Anyway, while I was rooting through images of her online and I found several more pictures that reflect the style idea I'm looking for. Here is one from her home Casa Ladera in Holmby Hills.

Dolce & Gabbana Spring RTW 2013

When I first saw this collection I loved it. I loved it so much that I was overwhelmed by it. I decided to take a breather and come back to it. I revisited today and oh my god, I'm still in love! If I could wear nothing else for the rest of my life but this collection I would. I love the relaxed cuts and occasional rough edge mixed with the wild prints and colors, this truly captures the aesthetic of an over the top island lifestyle (inspired by Sicily). I think that the clothes speak for themselves far better than I ever could.

Honor - Pre-Fall 2013

Modern Garden Party with a Twinge of Nostalgia...this collection sort of reminds me of a reined in Valentino? I love Valentino and I think that is why I love this so much. I feel like it references couture, but is wearable? I don't know what I'm talking about, but I like Honor.

Opulent Sari Style - Marchesa Spring 2013

I keep watching travel shows about India and I'm so in love with sari style. I think the look is so elegant and flattering and hits and hides all the right places. I was really pleased to see that Marchesa took this and created the most gorgeous opulent version of saris. I like that even though these are the most fancy of saris that they are styled with flat shoes and flat sandals (minus the first model). It really makes me rethink the elegance of a flat shoe. I think we are supposed  to think that flats are office wear and that going out only a heel is appropriate...anyway....back to saris!

When I take a closer look, I feel like these are almost like Greek Goddess meets sari. The middle blue dress blows my mind it is so stunning.

Magical Mythic Folk Garden Party

Valentino Spring 2013 Couture

Adele wore a similar dress -

I believe Rhianna wore this -

And this is my dream garden party dress, so beautiful it reminds of of folk art (which I'm really into as a look for this Spring/Summer).

Also Jamie King MONTHS AGO in Dior

I really love this, although it is Dior it reminds me of 70s YSL Rive Gauche. This look is also my inspiration for my summer wardrobe. I've been purchasing vintage Mexican embroidered dresses and making them mini dresses as well as buying vintage Mexican full skirts. While they do not have the sleek glamour of this skirt they give a similar silhouette and are cool in their own right.

Here is my most recent purchase:

Vanessa Hudgens in Jenny Packham at the Golden Globes - I know...I'm super on top of things

I meant to post this when it was relevant, but whatever, it is still a cool dress. I have to say I really love Vanessa Hudgens and her relaxed glamour. This dress reminds me of an updated Norman Norrell mermaid dress.

I think I actually gasped when I saw these...

I really love the revitalization of the Kenzo brand and I'll probably be the first to go broke trying to buy it all!
