Ebay Finds
Vintage Andre Courreges dress, bought on Ebay for $50. I think this dress is from the late 1970s. Courreges was a Spanish designer who worked in Paris under Balenciaga and later created his own fashion house which was funded by Balenciaga. He was interested in sports wear as fashion and not just a component of a fashion house. He wanted to allow women to be free to run and jump in their clothes and never created a high heel (which would hinder activity). Very much a leader of the 1960s space age modern movement in fashion, he is credited with creating the mini-skirt. While he was prolific, he never seemed to progress beyond trends. I'll put up some more examples of his work in the coming days.
